Types
of Exams

| Because your eyes are so important to you, we want to provide you with the best possible care. We provide many different types of eye exams, with some examples discussed below. After every exam, we will present the results and discuss appropriate treatment plans. | ||||||
| Comprehensive Vision Exam | ||||||
| We provide comprehensive eye health and vision examinations for people of all ages, from infants to seniors. These exams determine eyeglass prescriptions, but they also check for external and internal eye diseases, cataracts, and glaucoma. | ||||||
| Vision Efficiency Exam | ||||||
| This exam, which lasts about one hour, looks at whether visual information is being received in an efficient manner. It evaluates such skills as eye movement abilities, focusing skills, and the ability to use the two eyes as a team, and determines whether glasses for reading or distance viewing would be a benefit. Vision Therapy is also an option and is offered as a service when appropriate. |  |

| Vision Perceptual Exam | ||||||
| While the Vision Efficiency exam investigates how visual information is received, this exam looks at what is done with vision information once it is received. It tests such skills as visual memory, visual closure, hand-eye coordination, laterality, directionality concepts and the preferred sensory processing style of the individual. Allow about two hours for this exam. Treatment options for problems in this area include vision therapy or referral to an appropriate specialist when problems outside of vision are detected. |  |
